Vijay's Master may not release on April 9
Vijay is upbeat about the release of his upcoming film, Master. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film, produced by XB Film Creators, was slated to hit the theatres on April 9. However, given the current situation, the film's release might get postponed.
A couple of days ago, several film bodies and Tamil Nadu government announced the shutdown of cinema halls and halt of film shoots till March 31. Due to the spread of novel coronavirus, the government has requested the people to practice social distancing.
This decision has hindered the release plans of Master. April 9 was a perfect date for the film's release as it would give the team five days of uninterrupted theatrical run because of the long weekend (Easter, Tamil New Year and Vishu).
Apart from India, theatres in the USA, Malaysia, Singapore and the UK have also been shut down to combat the spread of coronavirus. Since Vijay enjoys a loyal fan following in the international market, it would be impossible for the Master team to limit the release only to Tamil Nadu or India.
According to sources close to the team, the producers of Master are now contemplating on a new release date. An official announcement regarding Master's release plans will be out in the coming days.
