The makers of Laabam had completed the film's shooting before the nationwide lockdown. The Tamil Nadu government gave permission for post-production works from May 11. However, the post-production works were halted after the government imposed a complete lockdown in Chennai for a month. Laabam is one of the most anticipated films this year. The post-production work is going on in full swing and it is rumored that the film will hit the theatres later this year or early next year.
Shruti revealed that she had a wonderful time at the shooting spot. She further added that director SP Jananathan was her dad Kamal Haasan's friend. She said, "To be honest, it was like any other movie set. But, I really enjoyed working with SP Jana [Jananathan] sir. He’s from a different generation and my dad’s old friend. What I loved the most about him is how he is extremely liberal and open-minded. That’s an experience I cherish. He has evolved and his opinion of men, women, society, money is progressive." Laabam also features Jagapathi Babu, Sai Dhansika, Harish Uthaman, and Nitish Veera in supporting roles.
