On Sunday, actor Vijay met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapadi K Palanisamy at his residence in Chennai. Due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, Master's release was postponed by several months.
Vijay met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapadi K Palanisamy ahead of his movie Master's release, which is scheduled to hit the theatres for Pongal. Vijay allegedly requested Chief Minister to help with the film's release hoping that it could revive the film industry, which is facing a severe crisis due to the pandemic.
Currently, movie theatres are allowed to be operated only with a 50 percent sitting capacity in Tamil Nadu. This might cause a dent in the box office collection of Master.
Trade analysts suggested that releasing big-budget films with 50 percent occupancy will not yield much profit which was also discussed during the meeting between Vijay and CM EPS.
Recently, the makers revealed that Master has been issued a U/A certificate by the censor board. According to reports, the team has finalized January 13 as the film's release date. However, an official announcement regarding the film is yet to be out.
Master, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, was supposed to release on April 9. Due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, the film's release had to be postponed.
