UP: Complete lockdown in 4 localities in Lucknow till July 24
The Lucknow district administration has imposed lockdown in four localities -Sarojini Nagar, Ashiana, Ghazipur, and Indiranagar -- till July 24.
Barricading has been placed in these areas and there is heavy police deployment to ensure that people follow the lockdown orders and remain indoors.
During the lockdown period, only those shops selling essential items will remain open. However traffic will be allowed on the highways falling under these areas and construction activities on roads, highways, and projects of the Public Works Department (PWD) will also continue unrestricted. Banks, medical services, fuel stations will be open during the lockdown period.
All the shops selling non-essential goods will remain shut and sanitization of public places and markets will be done by the municipal corporation.
Lucknow District Magistrate (DM) Abhishek Prakash said that action under the Epidemic Act will be taken against those who violate the Covid-19 guidelines in these areas.
The decision to impose lockdown in these areas has been taken due to the continuous surge in coronavirus cases.
According to the data given by the health department till Sunday, Lucknow has 2,505 active cases of Covid-19 making it the worst-hit district in Uttar Pradesh. On Sunday, 392 cases fresh were reported in Lucknow.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting with the top officials at his residence in Lucknow to review the COVID situation and plans to tackle the outbreak.
He underlined the need to constitute an integrated command and control center in the city. Hospitals were also directed by the CM Yogi Adityanath to increase beds for Covid-19 treatment and conduct contact tracing more effectively.
