Maharashtra cabinet has been announced. After days of suspense, the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi government-led by Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has announced its cabinet portfolios.
Interestingly, the Shiv Sena has retained key portfolios of Home Ministry as well as Urban Development. The Sena will also keep Industry and Environment with itself.
NCP, which is the second-largest party in the alliance, has got Rural Development, Water Resources, Finance, Housing and Health, Cooperatives, Food and Civil Supplies.
Congress has been given Higher and Technical Education, Revenue, School and Medical Education and PWD.
CM Uddhav Thackeray, who took an oath to the office on November 29, has not kept any portfolios for himself.
Shiv Sena's senior leader Eknath Shinde will have Home, Urban Development, Forest, Environment, Water supply, Irrigation, Tourism, PWD and Parliamentary Affairs.
Congress's Chhagan Bhujbal has been put incharge of Rural Development, Water Resources, Social Justice, Excise and FDA.
Balasaheb Thorat has been put in charge of Revenue, Power, Medical Education, School education, Animal Husbandry, Diary development and Fisheries.
Shiv Sena leader Subhash Desai will be minister for Industries and Mining, Sports and Youth Development, Agriculture, Employment Guarantee, Transportation and Marathi Languages.
Finance, planning, Housing, cooperatives and Marketing, Food and civil supplies, Labour and Minority development have gone to NCP's Jayant Patil.
MSRDC, Tribal Development, Women and Children Development, Relief and Rehabilitation and OBC will be overseen by Nitin Raut.
