Terrorists making desperate attempts to infiltrate into J&K: Army Chief General MM Naravane
Army Chief General MM Naravane has said that terrorists are making desperate attempts to infiltrate into J&K to disrupt normal democratic processes.
MM Naravane has said, "With the ongoing situation on our western borders, terrorism continues to be a serious threat, and that is not abating in spite of all efforts made."
"With the onset of winters, attempts are being made to infiltrate before the passes close and snow levels rise. It's because of this that they've started moving southwards and are now attempting to infiltrate through lower regions including tunnels across IB," he added.
Earlier, today the first of the eight-phased election to District Development Council (DDC) and by-polls to panchs and sarpanches in Jammu and Kashmir began.
The J&K DDC elections voting began at 7 am at various polling booths. Multilayered security arrangements were made for the DDC elections.
