Tamil Nadu schools to reopen for classes 10, 12 from January 19

The government of Tamil Nadu has taken the decision to reopen the schools in the state from January 19 for students of classes 10 and 12. The dates for the reopening of schools for the rest of the students will also be announced in due time.

The schools in Tamil Nadu are only reopening for classes 10 and 12 due to the academic pressure of the upcoming board exams. The state government has also issued a list of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the reopening of schools.

The schools in Tamil Nadu have been shut down since March 2020 in view of the rapid spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. The schools have been conducting online classes for all the students for the past 9 months in Tamil Nadu.

The government of Tamil Nadu has also decided to reopen the hostels in the state to help students with accommodations during these uncertain times. Students must note that the hostels are only being reopened for students of classes 10 and 12.

The hostels in Tamil Nadu will follow Covid-19 SOPs which will be similar to that of the schools in the state. Apart from the SOPs, the Department of Health will also be providing vitamin and zinc tablets to all students to strengthen their immunity.

The schools in Tamil Nadu were supposed to reopen from December 2020, as per the earlier order of the state government, but due to a spike in the number of Covid-19 cases in the state, the decision to reopen schools was postponed.
