Tamil director Arun Prasath dies in a road accident in Coimbatore

Debutant director AV Arun Prasath, who is credited as Venkat Prakkar in films, breathed his last today (May 15) morning. The young filmmaker met with a road accident near Mettupalayam in Coimbatore.

He assisted legendary director Shankar and had worked with him in many films including actor Vikram-starrer I. Arun Prasath's tragic road accident has come as a huge shock to his peers in the film industry.

Director Shankar took to Twitter to remember his former assistant. He wrote, "Heartbroken by the sudden demise of the young director and my ex-assistant, Arun. You were always sweet, positive and hardworking. My prayers are forever with you and my deepest condolences to your family and friends. (sic)."

 

His debut film, 4G, starring GV Prakash and Gayathri Suresh, was wrapped up a couple of years ago. 4G's release has been delayed for over two years due to unknown reasons.

 

Actor-composer GV Prakash, who worked with him in 4G, took to Twitter to condole the director's death. He shared a photo of the director and prayed for his soul to rest in peace.

 

GV Prakash's tweet is loosely translated as, "I am deeply saddened by the demise of my dear friend Venkat Pakkar, who always brims with positivity. My deep condolences to his friends and family members. I will pray to the almighty for his soul to rest in peace."
