Sushant Singh Rajput money-laundering case: ED to scan property owned by Rhea Chakraborty and family
The Enforcement Directorate (ED), probing suspected money laundering in the case related Sushant Singh Rajput's death, is now looking into a property suspected to be owned by the late actor's girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty. A flat located in Khar (East) in Mumbai, suspected to be owned by Rhea Chakraborty is under the scanner of ED. According to sources, the ED could probe the money trail that happened during the purchase of the said flat. The payments made to the seller and accounts used to make payments would be analysed.
ED had questioned and recorded statement of Sushant Singh Rajput's chartered accountant Sandeep Sridhar earlier this week, where he was questioned for over 11 hours regarding Sushant Singh Rajput's bank accounts and transactions from his accounts, especially held in Bandra branch of two private banks.
Sridhar, in an exclusive interview with India Today Television, had said that the amount that was mentioned in the complaint filed by Rajput's father, KK Singh, was not there in his account, as per the audit he had conducted since he started handling his account a year ago. Sridhar also had said that no major money transfer had happened to Rhea's account, the expenditure mostly happened on travel and upkeep of the late film star.
ED had summoned Rhea's CA Ritesh Shah in the case registered with the agency against Rhea, her brother Showik and father Indrojit Chakraborty. Another suspect in the case is Samuel Miranda who worked with Sushant as his house manager. Samuel Miranda, according to sources, was questioned for over 14 hours on Wednesday by ED officials at their Mumbai office, located in Ballard Estate.
Rhea has been summoned on Friday to record her statement. Her brother Showik, who was the director of the two firms with Sushant, could be called next week to record his statement. Rhea's chartered accountant Ritesh Shah has been called to record his statement but he hasn't turned up yet, citing heavy rains in Mumbai as a reason for not turning up for recording his statement.
