Sushant Singh Rajput death case: Mumbai Police sends fresh summons to Kangana Ranaut through post
The Mumbai Police probing the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput on Thursday sent summons to Kangana Ranaut to join investigations and record her statement. The fresh summons issued in the name of the actress have been sent through post to her Manali address, where she is reportedly residing presently.
Sources revealed that a police team from Bandra Police Station had earlier visited Ranaut's residence near Khar Gymkhana with the summon copy on July 3. A staffer working for the actress, who identified herself as Amrita Dutt, met the police team and informed that the actress was out of town. The police team asked her to accept the summons and inform the actress to join investigations on the said date, but refused. She was asked to provide the police Ranaut's address and contact details. However, Dutt refused to give that information as well. Dutt was then asked to come to the police station on July 4 but she didn't comply to that.
The police team finally managed to reach Ranaut's sister, Rangoli Chandel, who is also her manager, over phone requesting that Ranaut join investigations in Mumbai.
On Wednesday a Twitter handle @Teamkanganaranaut tweeted that the actress hasn't received any formal letter from the police to appear before them to record her statement. The tweet read, "There is no formal summon sent to Kangana, Rangoli keeps getting casual calls from the cops for past 2 weeks, Kangana wants to record statement but we don't get any response from @mumbaipolice. Here's a screen shot of message Rangoli ji sent to @mumbaipolice (sic)."

The screenshot shared was of messages exchanged between one of the officers and Rangoli Chandel. One of the officers from the investigating team stated that they can't come where the actress was presently residing as they were busy with investigations going on.
Chandel then shared the details of her lawyer and also asked the queries to be sent for response. The message reads, "Dear Sir, as we spoke today ,kindly send us the questions you want to ask Ms Kanagana Ranaut so that Ms Kanagana Ranaut can record her statement accordingly. Mr Ishakaran Bhandari is our lawyer and his number is....., anything you need you can call our legal team Also they will help you with everything you need from ourside. The actress is reportedly currently staying at her native state of Himachal Pradesh. Ranaut had recently alleged that filmmaker Karan Johar declared Sushant Singh Rajput a flop star and ensured that his film Drive didn't release in theatres. She also claimed that Johar had done this to help his childhood friend Aditya Chopra, who wanted to destroy Sushant's career.
The actress also alleged that Sushant Sigh Rajput was a victim of nepotism prevalent in Bollywood.
On Thursday, film director Rumi Jafry recorded his statement with the police for around four hours. Jafry was to work with Sushant and Rhea Chakraborty on a film after the lockdown was over.
Till now, the investigating team has recorded statements of over 40 people which includes Sushant's family friends, co-workers, staffers, YRF chairman Aditya Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, film critic and journalist Rajeev Masand and a few other Bollywood journalists.
