Sushant Singh Rajput death case: Kangana Ranaut to be questioned by Mumbai Police
The Mumbai Police probing the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput will be questioning actress Kangana Ranaut once she returns to Mumbai, sources confirmed. A notice was sent to Kangana Ranaut by the investigating team from Bandra Police Station last month, which was handed to a staffer working for the actress. Ranaut has been out of town and is at her native home state Himachal Pradesh.
Sources have said that the actress could be questioned to know if she had any details or information on what had led Sushant Singh Rajput to end his life. Her statement could help bring to light information on issues and people who were allegedly trying to attack or destroy Sushant Singh Rajput's image and career.
The investigating team has been recording statements of all those people who have shared information about the actor, or the alleged conspiracy that led Sushant Singh Rajput to end his life. Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide at his Bandra residence on June 14. The post mortem report revealed that the actor had died of asphyxia due to hanging. Since the actor's nails were clear and there were no injury marks found on his body, any foul play in the actor's death was initially ruled out.
The investigating team revealed that the investigation was presently focussed on knowing what drove the actor to end his life. Till date, the investigation team has questioned and recorded statements of over 38 people including YRF (Yash Raj Films) Chairman Aditya Chopra, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, talent management professional Reshma Shetty, few Bollywood publicists and top officials who were associated with YRF when Sushant Singh Rajput was under contract with the production house. Various PR professionals, Bollywood journalists, and various others have also been questioned.
Kangana Ranaut had recently alleged that Karan Johar declared Sushant Singh Rajput a flop star and ensured that his movie titled Drive didn't release in theatres. The actress also went on to claim that Johar had done this to help his childhood friend Aditya Chopra who wanted to destroy Sushant's career.
The actress, after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, had also alleged that the late actor was a victim of nepotism prevalent in Bollywood. Sources say that Kangana Ranaut has not yet responded to the police notice sent to her Mumbai residence. A police team had also visited her residence but found that she was not in the city and was at her native state of Himachal Pradesh presently.
