Sufiyum Sujatayum trailer out: Jayasurya and Aditi Rao's film promises to be an eternal love story
After Jyotika's Ponmagal Vandhal and Keerthy Suresh's Penguin, Malayalam film Sufiyum Sujatayum starring Aditi Rao Hydari and Jayasurya is the next South Indian film to have a digital premiere. The musical love story will stream on Amazon Prime Video from July 3 onwards.
On July 24, the makers of Sufiyum Sujatayum unveiled the film's trailer. The 2-minute-55-second trailer trailer showcases the story of Aditi Rao Hydari's character, who is mute. Sufiyum Sujatayum is a love story of an innocent girl and a Sufi priest.
As they both fall in love, the villagers term it as love jihad. Her father gets her married to an NRI in Dubai (played by Jayasurya). One day, she receives a call which brings her back to the village. What happens after her return forms the story of Sufiyum Sujatayum.
In a statement, Aditi Rao Hydari shared her experience of working in Sufiyum Sujatayum. She said, "Sufiyum Sujatayum is a special film for me. I have been lucky to work with some incredible people across India, and this film marks my debut as the leading lady of a Malayalam film. "The film is an innocent love story, where love is unburdened by prejudices and discrimination. The movie is a drama and narrated with a lot of sensitivity and honesty."
Jayasurya, who plays Aditi Rao's husband in the film, spoke about his character. "Sufiyum Sujatayum depicts the story of a beautiful girl with an incomplete love story. An interesting and nuanced role of a husband that knows of his wife’s love for another man, and tries to find ways to keep his family together," he added.
Directed by Naranipuzha Shanavas, the film has cinematographer Anu Moothedath and editor Deepu Joseph as part of the technical crew. Sufiyum Sujatayum was slated for a theatrical release. But, the makers decided to release it on Amazon Prime Video due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
