Sudarsan Pattnaik's sand art on Raksha Bandhan urges people to celebrate with Covid Warriors
Sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik took to Twitter today to wish his followers on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. He celebrated the festival by unveiling a gorgeous sand art that he made at the Puri beach in Odisha. This year, his sand art for the festival of Raksha Bandhan had a special message. It was a tribute to all the corona warriors who have been fighting the battle against the novel virus to safeguard us all. With his art, he urged his followers to celebrate the day with the essential workers and remember their efforts. He posted the picture of his creation at the beach with the caption, "Let’s celebrate this #RakshaBandhan with #CovidWarriors, those are working tirelessly day and night for us. My standard at Puri beach in Odisha (sic)."
The sand art featured sculptures of the essential workers including doctors, police officers and sanitation workers. Below the sculptures of the essential workers, Sudarsan made a colourful rakhi with the mesaage, "Let’s celebrate Rakhi with Covid warriors," written on it. His sand art garnered a lot of praises from the netizens, who instantly liked the tweet. Within an hour of being posted on the micro-blogging site, the tweet managed to garner more than 450 likes. In India, the total number of novel coronavirus cases surged to 17.5 lakh on Sunday while the death toll climbed to 37,364. Global coronavirus cases have crossed the 18-million mark with over 6.87 lakh deaths worldwide.
