Sudarsan Pattnaik condemns cruel act with sand art on Puri beach
Acclaimed artist Sudarsan Pattnaik condemned the killing of a pregnant elephant in Kerala with his artwork.
A pregnant gentle giant died after Kerala locals fed her a pineapple filled with explosives. The act of human cruelty has triggered a massive outcry across the country. Pattnaik mourned the killing with a sand art on the Puri beach in Odisha.
He took to Twitter to share a photograph of his art that depicted the elephant with her baby lying on the ground. "Humanity has failed again. One of my sand art on Save #Elephants," he wrote in the caption.
Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Susanta Nanda also shared the image of the sand art on Twitter. "We failed. As humans and keepers of this planet....Iconic sand artist Padma Shri Sudarsan Pattanaik shares our grief and mood through this sand art at Puri beach. On the heartbreaking incident of a pregnant elephant being killed by man animal conflict at Kerala," he wrote.
