Sports, music and therapy motivate Covid-positive people at quarantine centres in Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh has the second-most active novel coronavirus cases in the country, after Maharastra. A large number of asymptomatic patients are admitted at the quarantine centers across the state. The state is fighting social stigma surrounding the virus infection, which is not only affecting the patients physically but also mentally. Therefore, the authorities are now trying to make the quarantine center a happy home. To boost the morale of positive patients, the district administration of Ananthapur has come up with a rather unique strategy. At the quarantine center, the day starts with the Suprabhatam being played on the speaker set up. As for the choice of the song, that rests with the occupants.

All kinds of sports equipment are also provided to 'Covid-positive persons', who are free to use it anytime during the day. Badminton, volleyball and carrom are few of the most played games at the center, and it is not only bringing joy to the patients, but authorities are also happy with the success of the experiment. The government has also equipped these Covid-19 care centers with a laptop, internet connectivity, and a projector so that the occupants can live stream music or watch a movie.
Apart from this, the government has also been appointed a professional social counselor to each of the 18 Covid-19 centers in the district, who comes twice a day, to monitor the mental health conditions of the occupants.
