SPG amendment bill passed in Rajya Sabha
SPG amendment bill passed in Rajya Sabha with a voice vote. Before voting, the Congress staged a walkout expressing dissatisfaction over Home Minister Amit Shah's reply on the matter.
Home Minister Amit Shah, speaking in Rajya Sabha before the passage of the bill via voice vote, said that the politician who is most likely to be affected by the bill was PM Narendra Modi as he won't have any security after five years.
Addressing the Rajya Sabha before the passage of the bill, the home minister said that the charge that the government was acting out of political vendetta was unfounded. Amit Shah claimed that the RSS and BJP have been the victims of political vendetta as 120 of their workers have been killed in Kerala.
