Sonia Gandhi offers to resign as Congress president, asks CWC to elect new chief
Sonia Gandhi has offered to resign as the Congress interim president. At the crucial Congress Working Committee, which began at 11 am, Sonia Gandhi asked to be relieved as the Congress president.
Sources, privy to developments of the CWC meet, offered to quit as party chief at the start of a CWC.
Sonia Gandhi’s offer to quit comes as the Congress stands divided on the leadership issue with a section demanding collective leadership and another reposing faith in the Gandhi family.
