Sonam Kapoor responds to the troll brigade: My father worked hard to give me all of this

Sushant Singh Rajput's death triggered a debate on social media about the Hindi film industry's treatment of young actors coming from outside the industry. Many targeted Bollywood biggies for favouritism, nepotism and bullying. Yesterday, on June 21, Sonam shared several screenshots of the hate messages that she has been receiving from netizens. The actress responded to the troll brigade and wrote, "Today on Father’s Day i'd like to say one more thing, yes I’m my father's daughter and yes I am here because of him and yes I’m privileged. That’s not an insult, my father has worked very hard to give me all of this. And it is my karma where I’m born and to whom I’m born. I’m proud. (sic)."

Sonam's response didn't go down well with the netizens. A fan commented on the post saying, "At least you confessed that your career is all because of your father not like Sushant. (sic)."

Another one wrote, "The problem is not about you being proud daughter of a respected man. The problem is lobbying in the industry, knowingly or unknowingly, where media plays a huge role as well and to some extent the audience too. We make poor choices sometimes and choose name over talent..sorry. (sic)."
