Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant to resign from Modi cabinet

Union Minister and Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant announced that he is going to resign from Narendra Modi cabinet Monday morning. He holds the post of Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises in cabinet.

The minister called out the BJP government for being untrue to their promises.

"Prior to the Lok Sabha elections, the allocation of space and power allocation had become a formula. Both of them were convinced. Now, denying this formula is a formidable threat to the Shiv Sena. BJP has taken a lot of strides in Maharashtra in the pursuit of falsehood. Shiv Sena's side is the truth. Why stay in Delhi government in such a false environment? And that is why I am resigning as the Union Minister," Arvind Sawant tweeted.

Yesterday, the Shiv Sena leader went to Hotel Retreat to discuss political situation in the state where all Shiv Sena MLAs are staying.

In Maharashtra, the BJP refused to form the government in the state in view of ally Shiv Sena's stand to not join them on Sunday.

The political crisis in the state deepened Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari asked Shiv Sena following BJP's refusal to indicate its willingness and ability to form the government in the state. The governor has asked the Shiv Sena to meet him at 7.30 pm on Monday.

While the Congress refused to open its cards, the NCP made it clear that the Sena would have to break away from the NDA before the Sharad Pawar-led party can think of lending support to the Uddhav Thackeray's party.
