Satyendar Jain’s health deteriorates after testing positive for coronavirus, develops pneumonia
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain’s condition has deteriorated. After testing positive for coronavirus, he has now developed pneumonia and his breathing difficulties have aggravated further.
Satyendra Jain had tested positive for coronavirus two days ago after he complained of breathing problems. Doctors at the Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in Delhi have said Satyendra Jain’s health is being monitored constantly.
Satyendra Jain was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital early on Tuesday after he developed high fever and was suffering from sudden drop in oxygen level. The 55-year-old leader's test result came positive on Wednesday evening after a second test.
After being admitted to the hospital, Satyendar Jain had tweeted on June 16, “Due to high grade fever and a sudden drop of my oxygen levels last night I have been admitted to RGSSH. Will keep everyone updated.”
A day later he tweeted, "Today my covid test found to be positive."
Satyendra Jain will remain the cabinet minister without any portfolio in the Arvind Kejriwal government until he recovers. The AAP government has said Manish Sisodia will take over the responsibilities of Satyendra Jain, including the departments of health, public works department, power and other departments.
On Sunday, Jain attended a high-level meeting on the coronavirus situation in the national capital, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, which was also attended by Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal, Kejriwal, Sisodia and Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan.
Satyendra Jain was brought to the hospital and was administered a test for the novel coronavirus infection on Tuesday morning, for which he tested negative. But he still ran fever and showed symptoms, so another test was done after 24 hours of the first.
