Sakkarai Pongal Recipe

A traditional sweet Pongal recipe prepared in homes on the biggest festival of South India, Pongal. This sweet pongal recipe has rice, coconut, lentil, dry fruits, milk and jaggery cooked together in a delicious dish.

Ingredients of Sakkarai Pongal

  • 1 Cup rice
  • 1/4 cup yellow moong dal
  • 4 cup milk
  • 1 cup jaggery
  • 3 tsp cashewnuts
  • 3 tsp raisin
  • 5 nos cardamom
  • 1/4 cup ghee
  • 1/2 cup coconut

How to Make Sakkarai Pongal

1. Soak the rice and cooked with roasted yellow moong dal with ghee and mashed it properly in slow flame. Add the jaggery and mix well.

2.Take another pan, put ghee and add cashew nut, raisin and cardamom. Make it golden and then add in the rice preparation.

3.Remove it and serve hot.
