RCB's attitude outstanding, heading in right direction - Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli addressed his Royal Challengers Bangalore teammates in their customary post-match dressing room routine, thanking the support staff and the fellow players for helping create good memories at IPL 2020 in the UAE. Kohli conceded that it was not easy being in the bio bubble for more than 8 weeks but the camaraderie between players helped create 'the best' dressing room environment.
Virat Kohli said there were a lot of positives that have emerged from RCB's campaign at IPL 2020 and said the former finalists can certainly look forward to better things in the future. Kohli conceded that the fans wanted RCB to go further than Eliminator but they fell off after a good start.
Virat Kohli had said even before the campaign that the current squad is one of their better-balanced sides in the past and RCB ticked the boxes right in the first half of the tournament. With 7 wins from 10 matches, Kohli's men were in line to not just enter the play-offs but finish inside the top 2.
However, their form tapered off and RCB crashed out of IPL 2020 with five losses on the bounce. The well-oiled unit looked in disarray as the batting failed even as their bowlers continued to impress in the UAE.
"We spoke of creating memories as a team and we have done that this season. When we said this is probably the best environment we played in at RCB, damn right about it. It's been amazing," Virat Kohli said in a video shared by RCB.
"I think the camaraderie pushed deep and far into the tournament. Even during the losses, we never gave up, which I think is the most important thing. That is something we haven't done in the last 3 seasons. There is a positive already for me there that we are heading in the right direction.
"I want to thank the support staff, the coaches especially because we have created a brilliant structure. The hard work and their planning and the detail have been outstanding and we have thoroughly benefited from it.
