Ranvir Shorey responds to Jaya Bachchan's thaali comment: We packed our own tiffins
After Kangana Ranaut slammed Jaya Bachchan for the 'thaali' comment, Ranvir Shorey has also joined the bandwagon. Days after Jaya Bachchan made headlines with her speech at the Rajya Sabha, Ranvir took to Twitter to say that people like him are self-made and nothing was ever served to them on a platter. Ranvir tweeted, "Thaaliyaan sajaate hain yeh apane bachchon ke liye. Hum jaison ko phenke jaate hain sirf tukade.Apana tiffin khud pack karke kaam pe jaate hain hum. Kisi ne kuchh diya nahin hai. Jo hai, woh hai jo, yeh log humse le nahin sake. Inka bas chalta toh woh bhi apane hi bachchon ko de dete (The decorate platters for their own kids. People like us get crumbs thrown at us. We pack our own tiffins and leave for work. No one ever gave us anything. What we have therefore is ours. They can't take it away from us. But if they could, they would have given this it to their own kids too) (sic)."
— Ranvir Shorey (@RanvirShorey) September 16, 2020
Jaya Bachchan, on Tuesday, through a Zero Hour mention in the Rajya Sabha, said, "People who have made a name in this industry have called it a gutter. I completely disagree...I was really embarrassed and ashamed that yesterday (September 14) one of our members in the Lok Sabha, who is from the industry, spoke. I am not taking names, It is a shame." Jaya's statement was in reference to MP Ravi Kishan and Kangana Ranaut's comments on Bollywood's drug cartel. "Jis thaali mein khaate hai usme chhed karte hai. Galat baat hai," Jaya had added, referring to a very popular Hindi proverb.
