Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has criticised his party colleague Kamal Nath’s comment on BJP leader Imarti Devi and said that it is unfortunate. Rahul Gandhi also asked if PM Modi will finally speak on China in his address at 6 pm this evening.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi said, “Kamal Nath ji is from my party but personally, I don't like the type of language that he used. I don't appreciate it, regardless of who he is. It is unfortunate.”

Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s remarks, Kamal Nath later said, “It is Rahul Gandhi's opinion. I have already clarified the context in which I made that statement... Why should I apologize when I did not intend to insult anyone? If anyone felt insulted, I have already expressed regret.”

After a severe backlash, Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Kamal Nath has expressed regret over his remarks and asserted that he did not say anything disrespectful.

“I did not say anything disrespectful. I respect women. If anyone thinks this is disrespectful, then I regret it," Kamal Nath told reporters on Monday night. He had referred to BJP’s Imarti Devi as an “item”, drawing sharp reactions from BJP leaders and the women’s commission.

Addressing the media, Rahul Gandhi once again launched an attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will be making an address to the nation on Tuesday at 6 pm.

Following PM Modi’s announcement, Rahul Gandhi said at his press conference, “I would like to know from PM Modi when the Chinese will leave our country. I don't think there is any country in the world that will be silent like this. I would like PM Modi to speak on this, but I guarantee you he won't use the word China.”

Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly attacked PM Narendra Modi over the Centre's actions on the ongoing standoff with China in Ladakh. At a farmers' rally in Punjab, Rahul Gandhi had recently said that had Congress been in power, China would be out of Indian territory within 15 minutes.

Rahul Gandhi was in Kerala on Tuesday where he took part in the district development co-ordination and monitoring committee meeting at the Wayanad Collectorate.
