Pushpa: Kannada star Dhananjay to play a crucial role in Allu Arjun's film

The first look poster and title of Allu Arjun's upcoming film, Pushpa, was unveiled on his birthday (April 8). It became an instant hit and was hailed as the most liked first look on Twitter with more than 84.k likes in 24 hours.

According to the latest reports, Kannada star Dhananjay has been roped in to play an important role in the film. Sources close to the team revealed that they were initially in talks with Bobby Simha and Raj Deepak Shetty for the same role. However, the team finalized Dhananjay as they felt that he would fit into the character.

The actor will begin shooting for the film once the lockdown ends. Kannada actor Dhananjay, who is known for his performances in films - Popcorn Monkey, Yajamana and Tagaru, made his debut in Tollywood with Ram Gopal Varma's Bhairava Geetha.

A few days ago, there were reports that Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty has agreed to play the antagonist in the film. An official announcement regarding the cast and crew will be made soon.

Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa is touted to be an action entertainer. The story of the film is based on red sanders smuggling and it is set against the backdrop of Seshachalam forest, the hilly region of Andhra Pradesh.

Jointly produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Muttamsetty Media, the film has music composed by Devi Sri Prasad. Rashmika Mandanna, who is known for her performances in Dear Comrade and Geetha Govindam, will play Allu Arjun's romantic interest.
