Priyanka Gandhi steps in Rajasthan crisis, in talks with Ashok Gehlot, Sachin Pilot
Amid the growing political crisis in Rajasthan, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi has stepped in and is talking to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot.
Congress government in Rajasthan appears to be in deep crisis as Sachin Pilot, who is currently camping in Delhi with 12 MLAs, has claimed Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's camp is in minority. While he has claimed support of 30 MLAs, Congress has exuded confidence of retaining power in Rajasthan, saying 109 MLAs have extended support to Ashok Gehlot.
The flashpoint between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot in Rajasthan is said to a summon issued to the deputy chief minister by the state police to record his statement into "poaching" of MLAs.
The political crisis in Rajasthan comes just a few months after similar developments unfolded in Madhya Pradesh after Jyotiraditya Scindia's rebellion, crumbling the Congress government in the state.
Sachin Pilot on Sunday declared open rebellion, claiming that he has the support of over 30 Congress MLAs and some independents. The statement released on Pilot’s WhatsApp group claimed that the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government is in minority now.
