Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative (PMC) Bank customer lost his father on Friday after he was not able to withdraw money from his bank account for his father’s heart surgery. The deceased, identified as Muralidhar Dhara, died of a heart attack in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Muralidhar Dhara’s son, Prem Dhara, claimed his father died of a heart attack as he could not be treated for a heart condition on time.

Prem Dhara said he has Rs 80 lakh in his PMC Bank account but he had not been able to withdraw money for his father’s heart surgery ever since the bank scam was unearthed.

He also said that his father, Muralidhar Dhara had been ill for a long time and the doctors had asked him to get bypass surgery. Muralidhar Dhara was a resident of Mulund in Mumbai.

Two days ago, a 51-year-old customer of the PMC Bank died from a cardiac arrest after returning home from a protest against the PMC Bank scam.

Sanjay Gulati, a resident of Taporewala Gardens in Mumbai’s Oshiwara, was an account holder in the disgraced PMC Bank. He had deposits worth Rs 90 lakhs in the Oshiwara branch of the PMC Bank.

A relative Rajesh Dua told that Sanjay Gulati required money on a regular basis as his son was specially-abled and therefore a substantial amount of money was required for the child’s treatment. “Sanjay had been disturbed for the past several days as he was not able to withdraw money from his own account,” Rajesh Dua said.

On October 15, another PMC Bank customer committed suicide by taking an overdose of pills. The police, however, ruled out the possibility that his suicide was related to the bank scam. The doctor has been identified as Nivedita Bijlani and she was suffering from depression. Nivedita was a 39-year-old MD doctor.

The chief of the BJP’s Tamil Nadu BJP, Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan and former Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya are on the list of five new Governors announced by President Ram Nath Kovind today. Dr Soundararajan has been appointed the Governor of Telangana – having a separate Governor is a first for the country’s newest state. Bandaru Dattatreya has been put in charge of Himachal Pradesh, replacing Kalraj Mishra.

Besides the two, former union minister Arif Mohammad Khan has been appointed the Governor of Kerala and Bhagat Singh Koshyari as the Governor of Maharashtra.

Kalraj Mishra, who was the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, has been asked to replace Kalyan Singh in Rajasthan.

Tamilisai Soundararajan has been in charge of the BJP in a crucial southern state where it had practically zero presence, owing to the muscular Dravidian politics of the former Chief Ministers J Jayalalithaa and M Karunanidhi. Their deaths have left a huge political vacuum where the BJP and new entrants like actor-politicians Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth are trying to carve out their niche.
