Parts of Navi Mumbai to be under lockdown from June 29 to July 5: Official
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner on Saturday issued orders to restrict movements in Covid-19 hotspots in Navi Mumbai.
Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Annasaheb Misal said that from June 29 to July 5, only essential services will be allowed in the areas declared as containment zone. A total of 70,712 households will be impacted by this policy.
Some of the areas in Navi Mumbai which will be declared as containment zones are:
1. Diwale and Karave villages in Belapur
2. In Turbhe node, areas like Turbhe store, sector 21 and 22
3. Juhu village in Vashi
4. In Koparkhairne, Sector 12 and Sector 19
5. Rabale village in Ghansoli area
6. Chincpada in Airoli MIDC.
By Monday, these zones will be marked and barricaded. The civic authority, along with police, will be implementing the containment plan.
Thane district's Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde said that residents have been asking for policies to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.
"We are carrying out mass screening and isolating suspected Covid patients which help to control the spread. But there are some areas where cases are on the rise rapidly. Such areas have been identified and movement in these areas will be restricted. Residents are also keen on taking steps to stop the virus spread. We request residents to cooperate with authorities who are trying to save lives."
Any person, who will be found violating the containment measures, will be booked under Section 188 of IPC.
