Owaisi's tirade against anti-'Love Jihad' laws gimmick for GHMC polls, says BJP
Telangana BJP leader NV Subhas has hit back at AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi calling his criticism against proposed laws to prevent 'love jihad' a gimmick ahead of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections.
This comes after AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi alleged that BJP is promoting laws against ’Love Jihad’ for political gains.
The saffron party dubbed Owaisi’s opposition of the UAPA Bill and proposed laws against ‘love-jihad', a poll gimmick to garner votes in the GHMC elections
"AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi was trying to avoid public attention on ‘love jihad’. People were shocked by his prompt reaction when laws were proposed to curb religious conversions," NV Subhash said.
Reacting sharply to the remarks made by the AIMIM president that BJP was trying to bring laws against ‘love-jihad’ because it was unable to solve problems like unemployment, Subhash said the laws were targeted at inter-religion marriages with the intention or conspiracy of religious conversions.
"Why was the Majlis leader worrying against the laws proposed to bring in some states against ‘love jihad’? It was a usual practice for Owaisi to bring up religious issues to the fore during polls. Using this strategy, his party won five seats in the Bihar elections," said the BJP leader
Rejecting Owaisi’s claim that the central government has failed to handle the pandemic, he said the nation has faced Covid-19 situation effectively with a minimum death rate under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
