Odisha records 101 fresh Covid-19 positive cases, tally mounts to 538
Odisha recorded its highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases as 101 more persons tested positive for the virus yesterday, official sources said on Wednesday.
The fresh cases are from Ganjam (52), Balasore (33), Jeypore (7), Sundargarh (7) and Keonjhar (2), according to the state government.
With three deaths and 116 recoveries, the state now has 419 active cases, show data furnished by the health department.
It may be noted that 90 of the fresh 101 Covid-19 positive cases reported today have been detected in quarantine centres, eight in containment zones and three are local cases.
In a break-up given by the state government, 52 are from Ganjam District, two from Keonjhar, seven from Jajpur, 33 from Balasore and seven from Sundergarh District.
Out of the seven positive cases in Jeypore district, five returned from West Bengal returnees and the rest from Maharashtra.
And out of the 33 positive cases in Balasore, 24 are Surat returnees, three West Bengal returnees, two Bangalore returnees, one from containment zone and three local primary contacts.
All seven positive cases in Sundergarh are primary contacts in the containment zone at Rourkela.
