Nitish has failed as CM, Bihar to become a global coronavirus hotspot, says Tejashwi

As coronavirus cases in Bihar crossed the 23,000-mark on Friday, the leader of opposition Tejashwi Yadav has said that Bihar is heading towards not only becoming a national hotspot but a global hotspot of coronavirus cases.

"I have been saying this since a long time, if the situation does not improve in Bihar then it will not only become a national hotspot soon but also become a global hotspot of coronavirus cases", said Tejaswi Yadav

The RJD leader said that a team from the Centre visiting Bihar on Saturday in the backdrop of a steep spike in Covid-19 cases was a clear indication of the failure of Nitish Kumar government in handling the pandemic. Tejashwi said Nitish Kumar has failed as Chief Minister

"Nitish Kumar has failed as a Chief Minister. I thank the Central Government for sending a team to assess the coronavirus situation on the ground in Bihar. I request the Centre to provide more PPEs, oxygen cylinders and testing kits to Bihar", said the RJD leader.

Tejashvi said if testing increases in Bihar, the number of positive cases will increase manifold.

"Bihar should be conducting at least 30-35,000 tests every day. If this happens, then over 5000 positive cases will be detected each day", he said.

The leader of the opposition reiterated his demand for deferring the assembly elections in the state due to the pandemic.

"Seeing the situation in the state there is a need to defer the elections. Priority right now should be to save lives of people", said Tejashwi.
