Need haircut in Chennai? Show your Aadhaar card
Salons in Chennai, Tamil Nadu will now check the Aadhaar cards of their customers before giving them a haircut. The new rules from the government have made it mandatory for the salons to take names, addresses, phone numbers, and Aadhaar card numbers of their customers before giving them services.
Tamil Nadu on Sunday cleared the decks for barbershops and salons to reopen. The salons will have to adhere to strict social distancing guidelines issued by the state government.
The Tamil Nadu government on Sunday extended the coronavirus lockdown till June 30, albeit with more relaxations that include the partial and conditional resumption of public transport and restaurants.
The lockdown curbs, ordered in March to stop the spread of coronavirus, will, however, continue in the containment areas that have the highest concentration of Covid-19 infections.
The state government had in May allowed the salons to reopen in the rural areas.
Tamil Nadu is among the states worst affected by the coronavirus pandemic and stood second behind Maharashtra in terms of total cases with 23,495 as of Tuesday.
