Mumbai schools to remain closed till December 31: BMC
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday said that all BMC schools would remain closed till December 31 owing to the recent spike of Covid-19 cases in Mumbai. However, schools can reopen from November 23 in other parts of Maharashtra keeping all the Covid-19 safety protocols in place.
"All schools in BMC jurisdiction to remain closed till 31st December. The decision has been taken in the wake of rising in #COVID19 cases in Mumbai. Schools will not re-open on November 23rd," said Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar, according to ANI.
The government of Maharashtra has earlier announced that students of classes 9 to 12 could attend schools and junior colleges from November 23 onwards.
But the recent change in school reopening news came after the Delhi government announced that all Delhi schools would remain shut due to the Covid-19 situation.
In Maharashtra, sanitization is in process for all the schools that will reopen from Monday for classes 9 to 12 following the safety guidelines and SOPs. To minimize the risk of Coviod-19, school teachers have to mandatorily undergo RT-PCR tests as per the state education department’s orders.
