In a freak accident, a mobile phone exploded and injured a 30-year-old man while he was riding his bike and talking on the phone. The incident took place on Sunday in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district.
Arumugam, a resident of Shoolagiri, was riding his two-wheeler on the Krishnagiri-Bengaluru highway. He was speaking on his phone, which was placed inside his helmet. When the phone exploded, he lost control of his bike and fell on the ground. He sustained injuries on his face and lost consciousness.
Passersby on the highway who witnessed the incident admitted Arumugam to a private hospital. He was later shifted to the government hospital in Krishnagiri for further treatment. While Arumugam regained consciousness, he is still in a state of shock.
According to the police, Arumugam was talking on the phone for half an hour, which could have probably caused the phone to heat up. He had purchased the branded phone from a reputed company. The phone is still within the warranty period.
The Shoolagiri police has registered a case and are conducting further investigations.
