Masood Azhar is not missing Kept in safe house in Pakistan ahead of FATF meet : Intel Reports
Ahead of the crucial meeting with terror watchdog FATF, Pakistan on Monday claimed Jaishe-e-Mohammed terrorist Masood Azhar has gone missing. However, intel inputs have revealed Masood Azhar has been taken to a secure location by the Pakistan Army and ISI.
According to sources, Masood Azhar and his family are not missing but have been kept in a safe house ahead of the FATF meeting in Paris.
Masood Azhar and his family have been taken to a safe house in Bahawalpur. Sources say Masood Azhar has been kept at the Markaz Usman-o-Ali, which is the new Jaish-e-Mohammed headquarters.
Masood Azhar has been kept at the Jaish headquarters on the Bahawalpur-Karachi road under heavy security presence.
Pakistan's economic affairs minister Hammad Azhar on Monday said Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar has gone missing from the country.
According to sources, Hammad Azhar stated that the administration could not file a First Investigation Report (FIR) against Masood Azhar as he has apparently gone missing.
Many find it suspicious that Pakistan's claim comes right before the crucial FATF meeting, which will decide whether Pakistan has followed FATF's recommended guidelines on curbing money laundering and terror financing.
Recently, a Pakistan court had sentenced Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed to 11 years of imprisonment.
