Madhavan and Shraddha Srinath's Maara to skip theatrical release, to premiere on OTT soon
Madhavan and Shraddha Srinath's Maara is the next Tamil film to take the OTT route. According to multiple reports, the film, directed by debutant Dhilip Kumar, will skip theatrical release and will directly stream on an OTT platform. The makers of Maara had earlier revealed that they had wrapped up the film's shooting and that the post-production work is going on.
Reports are rife that the producers of Maara have been in talks with an OTT platform for quite some time now. They have recently inked a deal and would soon announce the film's release date.
Maara is the official Tamil remake of the critically-acclaimed Malayalam film, Charlie, which starred Duqluer Salmaan and Parvathy in the lead roles.
Back in June, rumors surfaced that the Maara team is waiting for the government's permission to resume shooting. However, Pramod Films, in a statement, rubbished them as rumors and shared the status of Maara.
The statement of the production house read, "We are happy to announce that the shooting of Maara starring R Madhavan and Shraddha Srinath was completed before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. The post-production work and re-recording will commence soon (sic). They had also promised that the audience will have a lot of surprises in store.
Maara also features Sshivada Nair, stand up comedian Alexander Babu and Mouli. The film has music by Ghibran, lyrics by Thamarai, and editing by Bhuvan Srinivasan.
The Maara team is expected to come out with an announcement in the coming weeks.
