Kerala nun rape case: Accused Franco Mulakkal granted bail
The Kottayam additional district sessions court on Friday granted bail to accused Franco Mulakkal in connection with the Kerala nun rape case.
Earlier his bail was canceled by the court as he did not appear in person. He had said that he was in quarantine and had tested positive for coronavirus.
The charge sheet pertaining to the case will read on August 13. Until then Franco Mulakkal cannot leave Kerala.
Franco Mullakal was already out on bail but it was canceled recently for violation of bail condition. However, he was not arrested or remanded after that.
Mulakkal was arrested last year following allegations by a nun that he repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted her at the Kuravilangad convent between 2014 and 2016, a charge that has been denied by him.
