Kamal Nath organises Hanuman Chalisa recitations in Bhopal, to send 11 silver bricks for Ram mandir
A day ahead of the Ram mandir bhoomi pujan in Ayodhya, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath organised a mammoth Hanuman Chalisa paath at his official residence in Bhopal on Tuesday.
The Hanuman Chalisa paath was attended by a number of Congress leaders. Other Congress leaders organised the recitations at their residences across the state.
Speaking to the media, Kamal Nath said the Hanuman Chalisa paath was organised to pray for the welfare, prosperity and progress of Madhya Pradesh.
"We welcome the construction of the Ram Temple. The process was started by late Rajiv Gandhi in 1985 and a shilanyas was done was 1989. It is only because of late Rajiv Gandhi that the temple is being constructed," Kamala Nath said.
Kamal Nath also said the PCC unit of Madhya Pradesh, on behalf of the people of Madhya Pradesh, will send 11 silver bricks for the Ram mandir in Ayodhya.
In the past, Congress has been accused of playing the soft Hindutva card to neutralise the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Kamal Nath denied that the Hanuman Chalisa paath had anything to do with the Ram mandir construction for which, eh said, "the BJP was taking credit".
"Does the BJP have a patent over the Hindu religion? Why does the BJP get so uncomfortable every time the Congress does a religious program?" Kamal Nath said.
Kamal Nath also listed other 'religious' works done for the Hindu faith by the Congress.
He said that he had established a massive Hanuman idol in his former Lok Sabha constituency, Chhindwara. Kamal Nath also said the Congress government was working on establishing gaushalas and reviving the Rampath Vangaman route in the state before its government fell.
