India's Covid-19 tally surges over 94.3 lakh
India's coronavirus tally climbed over 94.31 lakh on Monday morning as the country reported 38,772 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours. The coronavirus cases in India have mounted to 94,31,692, according to the Union health ministry data.
India has also registered 443 deaths due to the coronavirus, taking the death toll to 1,37,139. There are 4,46,952 active coronavirus cases in India. The total discharged cases stood at 88,47,600 on Monday morning with 45,333 new discharges in the past 24 hours, the health ministry said.
The ministry also said that India continues to have one of the lowest deaths per million population globally. "Focussed measures to ensure a low and manageable fatality rate have resulted in daily mortality figures of less than 500," it said in a tweet.
India has so far tested 14,03,79,976 samples to detect coronavirus cases in the country. Of the total, 8,76,173 people were tested on Sunday.
Punjab on Sunday reported 15 more fatalities due to coronavirus, pushing the toll to 4,780, while 741 new cases took the infection count to 1,51,538.
Uttar Pradesh reported 24 more coronavirus-related fatalities on Sunday, taking the death toll to 7,742, while 2,036 new cases pushed the state's infection tally to 5,41,873.
Delhi recorded 4,906 new coronavirus cases on Sunday and a positivity rate of 7.64 percent, while 68 more fatalities took the death toll to 9,066, authorities said.
