India's coronavirus cases over 82.29 lakh with 45,230 fresh infections in 24 hours
India on Monday reported 45,230 fresh coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, pushing the country's tally to over 82.29 lakh. With the new infections reported in a span of a day, India's coronavirus caseload has climbed to 82,29,313.
According to the health ministry, 496 patients of coronavirus succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll in India due to Covid-19 to 1,22,607.
India's active coronavirus cases stood at 5,61,908 on Monday after a decrease of 8,550 in the past 24 hours. Of the 82,29,313 coronavirus cases in India, 75,44,798 have recovered with 53,285 new discharges on Sunday.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 8,55,800 samples to detect coronavirus were tested on Sunday. Of these, 45,230 returned as positive for the infection. So far, India has tested 11,07,43,103 samples.
The Mizoram government said on Monday that the state has reported 2,757 coronavirus cases till date, of which, 433 are active cases while 2,323 people have been discharged so far. Only one person has died of the coronavirus infection to date, the state government said.
