India registers biggest jump with 8,392 coronavirus cases, total tally over 1.9 lakh
India recorded highest spike in coronavirus cases on Monday morning with 8,392 fresh cases of infections in 24 hours. With over 8,000 new Covid-19 cases, India’s case tally surges past the 1.9-lakh mark.
With 230 deaths in 24 hours, ending Monday morning, the death toll due to Covid-19 in India climbed to 5,394.
According to latest figures by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India has so far recorded a total number of 1,90,535 coronavirus cases. These include 93,322 active cases, while 91,819 have recovered/discharged/migrated.
On Sunday, India had registered its highest single-day spike of Covid-19 cases with 8,380 new infections in 24 hours, which took the country's tally to 1,82,143, while the death toll rose to 5,164.
India became the world's seventh worst-hit country in terms of coronavirus cases, according to the World Health Organization's (WHO) Covid-19 tracker. The US is the worst-affected country in terms of cases.
