India records 12,584 new coronavirus cases
India reported 12,584 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, according to the latest update by the Union health ministry on Tuesday. With the new cases, the positive cases tally in the country has mounted to 1,04,79,179.
Meanwhile, the country recorded 167 more deaths due to Covid-19, taking the toll to 1,51,327.
The total active coronavirus cases in India now stands at 216,558, while 10,111,294 patients of the viral disease have been discharged as of Tuesday morning.
The Covid-19 fatality rate in the country is currently at 1.44 percent.
On Monday, Delhi had recorded 306 fresh Covid-19 cases -- the lowest in more than seven months -- even as the positivity rate remained much below one percent, news agency PTI reported. This is also the eighth time, the daily incidences count stood below the 500-mark in January.
The infection tally in the national capital stood at 6.3 lakh and the death toll mounted to 10,666 with 13 new fatalities, authorities said.
Meanwhile, West Bengal's covid-19 tally mounted to 5,61,321 on Monday as 612 more people tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said. 16 more people, including a Kolkata Police personnel, succumbed to the infection, pushing the state's coronavirus death toll to 9,957, it said.
While Goa's coronavirus caseload went up by 35 and reached 51,891 on Monday, Bihar's Covid-19 tally mounted to 2,56,990 as 213 more people tested positive for the infection.
