Horse ride on highway in lockdown: Video of Karnataka BJP MLA’s son goes viral
A video of Karnataka BJP MLA’s son riding a horse on the national highway amid lockdown has gone viral on social media at a time when both the Centre and state governments have repeatedly appealed to people not to step out unless necessary.
In the video, Gundlupet BJP MLA Niranjan Kumar’s son is seen riding the horse on the Mysore-Ooty National Highway near the ITI College in the town.
Riding the horse in the middle the highway, the Gundlupet BJP MLA’s son is not even wearing a mask.
The video of the incident, which happened on Monday, sparked outrage on social media with people asking the government to take action against the son of the BJP MLA for flouting lockdown norms.
BJP MLA Niranjan Kumar, meanwhile, told India Today, “It is my son is in the video. There is no rule on paper which says that one can't ride a horse.”
“I was in Bangalore yesterday [Monday] and Mysore today. I don't know what happened, I will find out. If there is a fault I will tell him what's wrong and what's right. I won't defend. If there's a mistake, I will tell him,” the Karnataka BJP MLA said.
Niranjan Kumar added that his family lives in a green zone and that not everyone was wearing a mask in his area. “Not everyone is wearing mask but we should ask everyone to cover their face, including my son.”
