Donald Trump now expects 10M turnout in Ahmedabad Says dil mangega more from US rallies
Call it Donald Trump's Art of The Superlative. The US president now expects between "6 to 10 million people" to line up to greet him Monday in Ahmedabad, up from an earlier prediction of 5 to 7 million.
Here's a sobering fact: Ahmedabad's estimated population is 7 million, according to a civic official quoted in a recent PTI report. It was around 5.57 million a decade ago, according to the 2011 census.
But Donald Trump told supporters in Colorado Springs that the 10 million figure had come from Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.
And then, he seemed to grow wistful:
Having recently survived an impeachment trial, Donald Trump heads into India in the middle of a presidential election campaign. He shares warm relations with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and recently appeared on stage with him in front of 50,000 people in Houston, Texas.
The two leaders may well have a larger audience during their roadshow in Ahmedabad, but millions? Not likely.
An official who spoke to PTI said the turnout would be less than 2 lakh. Less, in other words, than a quarter of a million
