Dhanush and Keerthy Suresh to reunite for Netrikann remake
Last year, a popular production house was planning to remake Rajinikanth's yesteryear blockbuster flick, Netrikann, which released in 1981. While they had approached A-list actors to play the lead role, the film didn't materialise due to various reasons.
Now, talks about Netrikann remake have begun again. Reportedly, Dhanush is keen on remaking the Rajinikanth-starrer as it is one of his favourite films of all time. In fact, the pre-production work has already started for the same.
A source close to the film's team told DT Next, "Netrikann is Dhanush’s favourite film and he always had this idea of remaking it in Tamil again. He will begin working on the project post completing the shoot of Mari Selvaraj’s project. An official announcement will be made in a month."
Nettrikann's remake will begin in the second half of 2020. Keerthy Suresh, who romanced Dhanush in Thodari, will team up with him once again. In the original version, her mother Menaka played Rajinikanth's pair and it is one of her memorable performances.
Dhanush had earlier acted in the remake of Rajinikanth's famous flick, Maapillai.
Netrikann, directed by SP Muthraman was produced by K Balachander under his home banner Kavithalaya Productions. The film, which had Rajinikanth in two roles, follows the story of a son trying to get his womaniser dad change his behaviour.
