Delhi teen held in Bois Locker Room case, police identify 22 other members of Instagram group
A 15-year-old boy from a prominent school in south Delhi has been taken into custody by Delhi Police cyber cell in connection with the Instagram group chat named ‘Bois Locker Room’. Members of this group, all teenagers, discussing raping women and schoolgirls while sharing obscene images.
Police have also identified around 22 students who were part of the infamous group that has triggered widespread social media outrage. The boys will be called for questioning.
While most are school-going children, some of them are college students.
Delhi Police has registered a case under Section 465 (forgery), 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record), 469 (forgery for purpose of harming reputation), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of Indian Penal Code and Section 67 (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) and 67A (publishing or transmitting of material containing sexually explicit act in electronic form) of IT Act.
Screenshots of the lewd chats and images being shared among the members of the group were shared on social media, which triggered massive outrage against young boys discussing raping their underage women.
Taking cognizance of the incident Delhi Police cyber cell swung into action. A complaint against the group chat was also registered by the administration of a private school in Delhi.
Initial investigation into the incident has revealed that students from three prominent schools in south Delhi were part of the Instagram group chat. The chats had morphed pictures, derogatory and explicit comments on women and their bodies.
Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) had also taken notice of the issue and sent a notice to Instagram and Delhi Police in the matter.
