Delhi govt says no school allowed to increase fees during Covid-19 pandemic
Delhi government has announced that no school in Delhi is allowed to increase school fees during the pandemic. Deputy CM and Education Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia announced the same during a press conference on the matter.
“'No school is allowed to increase fees during this epidemic. Action is being taken against all the schools doing this,” he said.
The state government revoked permission to increase fees for Chanakyapuri's renowned school, Sanskriti School even though this school was allowed to increase fees before the Covid-19 pandemic.
It had increased the school fees by 83% which has now been canceled by the Delhi government.
The continuous complaints from parents led the Delhi government to investigate the matter and it was found that the school did not audit its accounts.
According to the 2017-18 account, the school had surplus money. Hence there was no base for increasing the school fees.
