Delhi air pollution reaches severe category, AQI crosses 400
On Friday Delhi Air pollution levels have dipped and reached the severe category as locals in the national capital woke up to a thick cover of smog.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Air Quality Index (AQI) was at 408 in Anand Vihar, 447 in Bawana, 404 in Patparganj, and 411 in Wazirpur. Air pollution in all four areas was found to be in the ‘severe’ category.
Air quality continues to deteriorate in Delhi with the rise in pollutants in the atmosphere. Centre has introduced a new law through an ordinance that puts in place a powerful oversight body and provides for up to five years of jail term and Rs one crore fine for violators with immediate effect.
