Salons and beauty parlours can open everywhere in state except in Chennai : CM Pallaniswamy
Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Saturday announced that salons and beauty parlours shall open for business in all corporations, municipalities and town panchayats, excluding the Greater Chennai Police limits, from May 24. In an official statement, the CM said the salons and beauty parlours shall remain open between 7 am and 7 pm.
“Salons and beauty parlours are not permitted to operate in containment zones, nor workers from the containment zones,” the chief minister said.
Salons have been allowed to open in rural areas since May 19. The chief minister said the beauty parlours would also be permitted in all rural areas, except those in Greater Chennai Police limits, from May 24. The chief minister said the salons and beauty parlours should strictly maintain social distancing norms.
They should not permit workers and customers with symptoms of fever, cold and cough. “I urge the proprietors to ensure that customers avail hand sanitisers and wear masks, shops disinfected five times a day and frequent handwashing of customers and workers using soap,” the CM said. The government will issue separate guidelines for the operation of salons and beauty parlours.
