Corona Virus India :Total Cases At 27,892; Death Toll At 872
The coronavirus pandemic has now infected nearly 28,000 people in India as the nation enters the last week of the world’s largest lockdown.
India added 1,975 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 27,892, according to the health ministry's update on Monday morning. This includes 872 deaths and 6,185 patients who have recovered.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to meet the state chief ministers over a video call today to take account of the infection spread, the lockdown and discuss a “graded” exit. Some states however are willing to extend the lockdown.
Global coronavirus cases approached the 3 million mark, though Spain and France reported the fewest deaths in more than a month and the rise in U.S. infections trailed the one-week average. Italy will ease its lockdown in just over a week, a key test in efforts across Europe to broadly restart public life. New York, the center of the U.S. outbreak, outlined reopening plans as well.
